COURSE OPERATION SAFETY NOTES

Motorsport can be dangerous and can result in serious injury or death.

Protect others and to ensure all associated with your party are aware of these instructions.

HEALTH & SAFETY

It is expected that you are familiar with the safe working practices involved in the operation and maintenance of your vehicle whilst on site. A copy of Guidance Notes is available in the Javelin Office if you are unsure.

COURSE DRIVING

No vehicles should be driven onto the courses unless authorised to do so. Do not join the course until you are instructed to do so by the Pit Lane Marshal. Suitable helmets must be worn. Arms and legs must be covered at all times whilst on circuit. Keep all windows fully closed whilst on track.

Remember. Most circuits are "green" at the start of the day.

a) Switch on hazard lights or raise an arm to notify following drivers you have a problem.

B) Try to come to a halt in a safe area if possible remain in the car. Do not try to fix

c) If car comes to stop in a dangerous position as B) but get out the car only when safe to do so, remember cars may be passing and go to a safe area behind a barrier or a safe distance.

NEVER DRIVE ON THE COURSE IN A REVERSE DIRECTION

OVERTAKING ON TRACK IS NOT ALLOWED UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES

TIMING, COURSE & FLAG SIGNALS

Javelin will be using the latest Microgate timing equipment. Infra red photocells are positioned at the start and finish of each course and as your vehicle breaks the infrared beam the timing computer records your time to an accuracy of 1,000th of a second. The unit then feeds the time for each competitor directly into a PC. This eliminates any human input error and speeds up running time. The specialist software then collates your time automatically and allows us to print a full list of results at anytime throughout the event.

Note - NO TYRE WARMING, SPINNING WHEELS etc is allowed. Non-compliance equals exclusion from the event.

The start procedure s taken care of by a traffic light based system.

1. As you approach the start line you will positioned the correct distance from the timing beams. By a marshal.

2. Next the RED light will come on to show that the course is ready and you should prepare to launch.

3. At 5 seconds to go a YELLOW light will be shown followed by a 5 second countdown of reducing pixels

4. Once the GREEN light is on you are free to launch. The timing equipment records your time from when you break the infrared beam, not when the green light comes on.

YELLOW TAKE CARE – SLOW DOWN Hazard ahead. Reduce speed and have full control of the vehicle. - Be prepared to stop if required

RED DANGER - EXTREME CAUTION – Significant reduction in speed required.

Slow down immediately. Watch out for emergency vehicles. Proceed to the paddock exercising extreme caution. Be prepared to stop. In exceptional circumstances. The organisers may consider a rerun.

CHEQUERED (Flag orSigns) END OF RUN Slow down – Either return to the Paddock as appropriate.

Note: OFF CIRCUIT SPEED LIMIT 5 MPH AT ALL TIMES

I'm hoping the Toyota Sprint Series snapper will be there...........

If so you can purchase professional pictures of your car from various pints on the track.

As well as your car you get smaller res pics of everyone else.

Got a 200SX coming now as well :whistling:

just a quickie

I was looking at the javelin site for the event and it lists it as sprint/drift, Im interested in both would that mean I pay 75£ + 90£ or does my entry to the sprint entitle me to burn my tyres off at my leisure??

I've managed to talk the other half into coming which is suprising as it means 4 hours in a car together with me driving which usually she would say no fullstop to, I've sold it to her on the fact that i'm convoying up with 3 other cars at not so scary speeds and she can use her new Tripod Digi SLR camera and newly learnt phtopgraphy skills on the day (10 week college course)

Is it worth bringing any chairs or even a gazebo thing for the spectators? I have told her to dress for snow and arctic temperatures and secured an umbrella!

You mean Nat's actually agreed to get in a car with you again

Chairs are a good idea, gazebo will be good as long as the wind isn't too strong as its very open ground :winky:
