I'm going over to Holland to work the morn

I have to fly from Aberdeen to Heathrow then get to London City Airport

any ideas how to get there,tube,taxi ?

we have about 7 hours to kill

You got loads of time so I would go tube (Piccadilly Line) to Gloucester Road, change to Circle or District Lines to Tower Hill, walk to Tower Gateway and then Docklands Light Railway (DLR) to London City. You could vary that a little and have a look around central London if you wanted.

According to TfL website fastest would be Heathrow Express to Paddington, Bakerloo Line to Baker Street, then Jubilee line to Canning Town then DLR to London City.

p.s. I wouldn't bother with a cab would cost a fortune and probably take longer.

There are five of us going so do you think the taxi would be more than £70

could not take a black cab because we each have 2 kit bags each with us.

Cab will be expensive as its a long way, but if there are 5 of you it wront cost that much each will it?

If you take public transport it will be a lot of changing of trains.

You want a people carrier from a mini cab company really, but then you would have a lot of time to kill,

and there is not too much to see at London City Airport. Maybe a Tube into London, then sightsee for a bit

& then find a mini cab place to People Carrier you to LCA.

Black cab from Heathrow to Canary Wharf is about £60 according to THIS SITE so London City won't be much more as the airport is a couple of miles past the Wharf.

Think you will find it hard to get a private hire at Heathrow as the black cabs have the place "sewn up".

Seems mad that the company should book you on 2 flights with a cross London transfer of over a hour carrying 2 bags that you can hardly carry!

Its not our company that booked the flights and three of us are one one flight from Aberdeen and 2 are on another one

We could have got a direct flight from Aberdeen

once we are in the pub all will be well

Personally, I'd try and get to City airport as fast as poss and stick the bags in Left Luggage. Then you can go back into town on the DLR/Jubilee lines and kill some time in a more pleasant area without having to worry about all your kit.

Just being nosy, but where are you flying to from City airport that you can't fly to from Heathrow?
