Urgent! Need Help Engine Problem!

right, my engine light is flashing, and feels liek im running on 5 cylinders sometimes, but not all the time and engine man light comes on flashesthen goes off randomly comes on again, erm... also under powered and got a clicking noise comeing from the throttle body and its sorter trying to turn but isn;t if you know what i mean...

any ideas? coilpack? sparks?

Sounds like a coil pack to me mate, but i cant be completely sure, try taking them out one by one and if its one of them the engine wont change when you remove it.

i dont think its the coilpacks, i took 1 out and it changed completely, although it still could be 1 not fireing properly i guess hmmm...

theres a clicking noise coming from the throttle body, like its constantly trying to adjust the throttle...

the clicking is normal when 1 or more of ure coil packs are breaking down, i had this recently and 2 had packed in, run your engine and pull up the packs 1 at a time you should find the faulty culprit that way,also they usually break down in twos

the clicking noise is the throttle idle speed control,its trying to compensate for the drop in engine r.m.p when your car is miss-firing.have you got the engine wet? could be spark or fuel related.

Id say check the spark plugs then timing.

sounds similar to a prob had with mine. turned out to be 2 coil pax. also changed plugs at same time.

i have a mac tools ET50 fault code reader that will plug into your OBD2 reader.. not sure if it would pick up the problem though. Will be at bluewater tonight

oh i started her up last nite also got the traction control light flashing as well now??? is this realated?

yes trc light is related too the engine light when coil packs are going down , coil packs are around 100 pound from lexus but i got a couple of second hand ones for 40 quid eatch

right well all 6 coils n sparks are out, 4 of the spark plugs look clean (white, the ceramic bits under the electrode) 2 are dark like blacky brown... so woudl these 2 coils be the problem then?

or maybe even the plugs, but they are supposed to last 60,000 miles.

If the coilpacks are playing up, that could be a reason for the plugs oiling/sooting ??

yea 2 of the coilspacks aren't working, trying to source some, went to lexus but i missed the parts dept by 5 minets !

dont foget too disconect ure Battery for five min after fitting too erase the fault codes on ecu,
