is there anything relatively cheap i can do to my is200 to save petrol, get more mpg?

for a 2.0 litre ive never known anything that drinks as much!!! ive got a rover 220 turbo with around 350bhp thats only a little less economical than the lexus

You could try using snow mode which seems to help a fair amount.

Unfortunately the car isnt light and stop start traffic in a heavy car really does drink juice and there not a lot that can really be done about it unless you want to start stripping stuff out

might loose my subs for a little while, they weigh a fair amount.. eventually iwant to supercharge the lex.. what will it do to my fuel economy? does it make a massive massive difference?

Posted

Not a massive difference but you will loose a bit of mpg the extra power has to come from somewhere after all

yea, but i wouldn't mind so much if it had some power :D lol

ive looked on the car spec sheet it says the is200 manual weighs around 1.8ton??!!??!!??

Posted

the spec sheet and 1.8ton gross weight and 1.4 kerb weight, not to sure which either means? but 1.4ton isn't that heavy..

1.8 ton gross weight is when they have someone sat in it while it's being weighed :whistling: (before anyone says anything i didnt have anyone in mind)

Also I believe that was the base model weight add 17inch alloys, full leather, the sat nav system, fluids etc and you have one heavy ***** car

If you change your air filter and entire exhaust system for more freely flowing items you should see improved mpg because the engine wont have to work quite so hard to produce the power - of course if this in turn prompts you to put your foot down more then you're back to square one!

(and the saving probably wouldn't be enough to warrant the expense of it all unless you were planning on doing it anyway)

Fitting a decat should help a little though.
