I have a 1990 LS400, which starts first time, every time but, in cold and damp weather it begins to run lumpily after 5-10 seconds and then, after a minute or 2 it cuts out all together. If I leave it for about an hour and restart it, the problem does not recur. It is really a nuisance to have to start the car an hour before I go out! Any suggestions?

Wild guess, could be the damp, tracking the HT all over the shop.

After it has stood maybe the warmth of the engine dries it.

Try starting in the dark and look under the bonnet [in darkness] for visible sparks anywhere...

If any, its as above....

Thanks, but I have tried that and used sealant spray. I think it is some sort of electrical problem, maybe with choke or idle valve.
