Hi,

The mot on my is300 runs out in may, but i will be going to canada at the end of this month for 6 months, so will be unable to do a mot test, when the current one finishes.

so, my question is: is it possible to do a mot test a few months before the old mot expire's?

i think its only 21 days before the date of expiry but you can ring any mot centre and they will tell you!

You can MoT it when ever you like, but if it passes more then 1 month (i think 30days to be precise) before the old one expires then the new Mot will will run out 1year after it passes.

If it passes a new mot under one month before the old one expires then you can get the expirery date forwarded to the end of the old MoT.

For example, if your MOT expires on the 15th of may, and you get the mot done on the 13th of April, then your new mot will expire on the 12th of april 2009, but if you get it done on the 16th of april then your new mot will expire on the 15th of may 2009 (providing it passes and you have the old MoT certificate available)
