I'm tempted to say the same. These units are a pain - I've spent hours on them. usually with err3 though.

One thing you can try (if you haven't already) - if you look at the very back (with it open) you will see a pot - slider type - that the mechanism is connected to. Give it a good clean with contact spray if you have any this pot is part of the positioning system and I've had it work a few times.

I know the aftermarket is looming but it would be nice to keep it OE , the pot you talk about where is it exactly again ? and what contact spray do you recommend , I will get some tomorrow . There is a FM modulator as well back there , thats where the wires I talked about were coming from . Thanks for all the help chaps its much appreciated.

Regards

Paul

If you look at it from the rear its going to be the closest thing to you that is connected to the mechanism, a little to the right if I remember correctly. It sits vertically. I don't have a picture I'm afraid. Its about a third the size of a teaspoon handle. It looks like a volume control slider without a knob on.

You can use a smidge of WD40 but only a smidge providing you have the straw thing that comes with it. Spray directly in and move the slider up and down vigorously for a good 20 seconds. Have a cloth ready in case you've put too much in. Make sure no-one is standing behind you in case they get the wrong idea.

Ha Ha Quality Geofers , I like it , thanks for the advice , I hope I can return the favours one day to all who have helped me in my hour (s) of need . What I might do is take it apart in daylight and leave the jiggy bit till I have the cover of darkness . .

Once again , THANKS

Regards.

Paul. :)
