Hi People. Hope you have all had a good Christmas and New Year.

I'm having a problem with my 2004 LS430. It's not a problem with the car, it is a problem with me trusting what it is telling me.

A few weeks ago I had to visit family in Gloucester and I was traveling from Herts. I set the sat nav, even though I know the way, so as it would let me know of any queue's and to automatically reroute me. Well, I was heading south on the A10 towards the M25 and all was quiet with the sat nav. Got to the M25 roundabout and guess what, traffic was queueing and the sat nav still said nothing. I got in the queue anyway and 5 minutes later, the sat nav lady pipes up and says "caution, traffic queieing". It tends to know what it happening once you are in it rather than telling you what you are approaching.

I also did a trip to Chester and back using the sat nav. It informed me of some traffic queueing after the M6 but after the last experience, I chose to ignore it and sat in the queue again. This time, the screen asks me weather I want to reroute and I said yes. It added a few miles on my journey but I couldn't help but think if I waited a little more in the queue, weather the traffic would all started moving again.

What I am wondering, does anyone else trust this service that the sat nav provides as I'm of a differing opinion?

Many thanks.

P.S. Managed 28mpg on a 400 mile round trip to Chester. Was quite pleased.

The traffic information is piped into your satnav over a system called RDS TMC. Nearly all onboard sat nav systems use this method where the traffic information is received on a separate tuner.

You can read about this concept here...........> http://www.rdstmc.co.uk/

There is nothing actually wrong with the hardware itself, it's purely "bad" information coming in. There are two TMC suppliers in the UK, Trafficmaster and ITIS.

ITIS supply Lexus......................> www.itisholdings.com/lexus.asp

So in short, t's them you need to feedback to.
