Hi was hopeing that someone could help my friend with the problem she has got with her car..

She drives a Renault megane ( 51 )plate with an auto gearbox

the prob she has got is that sometimes when she changes to ( drive ) or ( reverse ) on the box it doesnt select into drive or reverse and on the dash where its got the panel to tell her the gear she is in it will flash when its in the ( D or R )position... almost like its not in the locking position in the gear... in all the other gears its ok.......

Also whilst she is driveing along (normally very slowly it will pop out of the gear and just kinda go into like a limp home mode? until she puts it back into the ( D ) position

not sure if its the problem with the box itself OR maybe the clutch in the box?

its a bit of an arse ache for her ( got 2 little kids ) plus its xmas + hope she hasnt got to get a new gearbox :crying:

Any help would really be appreciated however big or small the advise is.. :D

the first thing i would do is put it on a computer to see if there are any fault codes as it sounds like it could be a sensor that has gone or the auto box ecu but sound it could be some thing like that

i have see loads of the old renault auto boxes go but not the new ones
