Remove Factory Tinting?

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone!

I am intending to buy either a 01 or 02 RX300 - I have test driven an 01 and thought it was amazing!

I would prefer an LS400 but due to a large dog who loves the beach and hills I need to stay with estates so RX300 good compromise....

The only thing I don't like about the RX is the factory tinting - If it was just dark tinting I'd be delighted but I don't think the reflective tinting looks nice. Is there anyway to remove this? I'm guessing it's built into the glass and not a film attached?

I guess swapping the windows in from an earlier scrapped Harrier would work but probably extremely hard to find and not economical to do.

Really appreciate any responses - hopefully will be joining you all as an RX owner very soon :D

Yup you are correct the tint is bonded to the glass, what you could do is find an agent in japan who could source the harrier glass and get it shipped over

Oh well, it's as I feared... Thanks for the reply!

I don't know if it would be worth changing the glass - I think I'll just get one and see if the factory tinting will grow on me over time, if not I'll then look into swapping the glass!

Thanks again.
