Hi,

After parking on the drive overnight and moving the car this morning, i noticed a small oil residue on the drive (about 6 x 6 cm).

Where would the leak likely be coming from?? Is there a more common area prone to leaking slightly??

Cheers

Park on a clean area, check position in the morning before moving the car...

Also check the oil patch for type.. could be ATF (auto trans and power steering) or engine oil..

Power steering is usually a prime suspect due to the high pressures involved.. more likely to leak..

In fact, most cars will leak from the power steering at some point.

how can you tell the difference between the two??

by taking note of where the car is parked, is it possible to eliminate either from the possible cause?? i thought any oil leak will run along the undertray until it finds an exit and thats where it'll end up on the drive....

ATF is normally red in colour, and is fairly thin.

Engine oil is a pale yellowish brown and thicker..

mop a bit up with kitchen towel, and it should be easy to see the difference.
