Es300 Tail Light Problem

Hi Everyone,

I have a 96 ES300 that I'm having issues with the tail lights on. When

the lights are turned on(like they would be when driving at night),

the only rear lights that come on are the two red tail lights in the

corners... the normal red tail lights do not come on. When I brake, all

the brake lights function fine.

I know that the back tail lights are dual fillament bulbs since the

bulbs function as tail/brake lights, and the brake light(1 fillament)

works fine on all four bulbs... but the normal tail light filament

will not turn on at all on any of the four. I replaced all four dual

fillament bulbs and no change... I also verified the fuse is

good and even swapped it out.

Any ideas? Any thoughts are very much appreciated.

Hey there, yes I have a new dual filamet bulb in all 4.... and again, the brake light filament functions normally on all four but the normal tail light filament will not come on any of the four.

I can't figure this one out so any ideas or thoughts are appreciated.

i think you will find (been ages since i owned one so forgive me if i am wrong) that the inside lights are single element and the outside are dual element.

Ok, forgive my ignorance here but of what significance is that? I'm not sure what you mean...

maybe im being thick but you seem to contradict yourself in your first post????

Also what steve is saying is that on his car only the outer lights acted as tail and brake lights - the inners were only brake lights.

You might also get more replies if you posted in the USA forums and not in the english one

from what I rmember the outer lights were tail lights and brake and the inner ones were just tail lights... or it could be the other way round. Both were not dual filament.
