Well finally my boss rang me today to say he'd changed his calipers and i could have his old ones so i went and picked up a lovely set of 4 pot UK spec supra calipers.

Following some instructions off my.IS Here i set about it.

I'd already ordered some 15mm spacers so i could fit the standard wheels back on.

Drained the system of fluid to replace it with Dot5.1 over the standard Dot3 and fitted some braided hoses (got back as well just haven't got round to changing them yet)

Had to cut away some of the metal guard behind the brakes to fit the new calipers and bend it back a bit so it didn't touch the discs.

The fitment of the calipers is attachly quite easy. The holes from standard are only slightly different. but the calipers have little inserts in which can be knocked out and replaced with some from a bloke called "Figs" from America.

You can see from the picture how the hole on the insert on the left is slightly off centre, The new insert has to be pressed into the caliper by bench press (or a vice :whistling:) and then the holes are in the correct position for the standard holes and bolts.

Then it's just a matter of bolting everything together and bobs your uncle.

The spacers bolt onto the hub and have studs of their own which you then bolt the wheel too so no need for longer studs.

Anyway here are a few pictures:

Old and new discs (doesn't look much different)

And my shiny new ones!

Apparently there isn't much difference in performance from standard but i love the look of them and there must be some sort of improvement,

Either way i love them!

Was going to upgrade the backs as well but the ones on the back of the Lex are the same design as the supra ones and no gain would be made at all.

Need some uprated disc's now as they are standard disc's with Hawk uprated fast road pads.

looks good, the discs look ever so slightly bigger is this correct ?????

The UK spec calipers are pretty mean, ive herd the import ones are as good for some reason, not sure why though.

So i take it all the braketing etc round the back is the same ? so its a straight swap.

What were the braided lines you got where they supra spec ones or lexus ones ??

Sorry for all the questions i've just been looking to change breaks for a while now :)

Hi sparkystav

Were your old calipers in good working order? I need some possibly to fix a sticky piston on mine. Let me know if you wanna get rid of em!

Hopefully not double the price for the lexus logo ;)

Yeah the Supra discs are bigger than the standard ones.

The import calipers and two pot sliders but thats all i know about them.

The brackets round the back are fine, you just need the inserts to move the holes by a couple of mm.

The Braided lines are for the lexus, the lengths are fine so they do the job.

If you look on the thread on my.is thats quite useful. But if you want any info drop me a pm it's not a problem.

Gonna keep the standard ones sorry mate, for if i ever sell the car i can put them back to standard as i'll get more for the Supra calipers off the car.

Looks good Stav, wish i could afford to do this or even better the skyline gtr ones B)

Think it may be something i look at doing when i actually get some money!

Do you notice any difference with the new ones on or are they relatively similar?????
