Help Needed With Is200 Brake Shudder / Vibration

Hi

My brakes were shuddering. It is worst braking from 70mph while going down hill. I replaced the front pads and discs with Mintex parts from eBay. There is little or no improvement.

1. How can I check the caliper/pistons are OK? They looked pretty corroded on the outside (Its a '99 Sport) but I was able to push the piston back in OK and when I pulled back the seals in sliding part of the piston looks OK.

2. How can I check the balljoints? I read elsewhere this can cause brake vibrations

3. I'm waiting to get a geometry check done. My steering wheel is about 15deg offset when I'm driving straight, indicating someone has messed with it before. Could this be contributing?

Any other ideas?

Martin.

I used to have that sort of shuddering/vibration on my car and discovered it was a sticking piston on the passenger front.

I just replaced it with one of Ebay,

Thats all i can really suggest mate.

Stav

Same here only problem ive ever had in 3 years is front drivers side caliper knackered same as you mate vibration etc, check your disc when you have been out somewhere for heat to see if there is a noticeable difference, mine was really hot and you could smell it as it was obviously sticking on on one side luckily it didnt do any harm to the disc.
