I Fitted The Vaistech Ipod Integration Kit At The Weekend

Recommended Posts

I took the plunge and ordered the vaistech sli kit. It was a bit frightening dismantling the centre console. The hardest bit was finding the 2nd pair of bolts holding the radio in. In the instructions it says '2 hidden screws', but they are actually bolts up inside the dashboard. Once I worked that out it was much easier.

The 2nd shock was that my 3rd generation ipod wasn't fully compatible.

I'm using my daughter's ipod nano and getting full text and all playlists on my 05 rx400h. It's a shame I don't have the mp3 stereo as that would give track info/listings on the screen with this kit. Sound quality is miles better than the fm kit.

Good luck if you are fitting it yourself. Any questions let me know.

Hi there, just had Lexus fit the Lexus approved iPod kit (not sure who it is made by).

I did have a question, on mine while it shows the Playlist name, it does not show the actual track name being played, e.g. It just displays as 01, 02 etc. Is that how yours is.

I have to say when I said I wanted this fitted i was expecting to control this from the main DVD screen rather then the radio LED.

Also is the iPod connector for your routed to the glovebox as mine is?

Other than that I have been pleased with it. 1000+ of my favourite tracks in the car is great.

On the vaistech it displays on the LCD panel of the radio (I have a satnav display, but the 05 model does not have dvd player or mp3 readout on the big screen)

My one can display playlist name and track name or playlist number with track number. I can cycle through by pressing the text button on the radio.

Yes, I have routed the cable to the glovebox. I agree fantastically neat solution, 1000s of songs under control of the head unit with no obvious signs on show.
