Flat Battery And Clicking Noise.

Recommended Posts

Hi

Not used my car for a 2 days.

Just gone to get in it and it appears the Battery is dead.

But there is a clicking noise and the headlight automatic leveller icon on the dash is flashing and the central locking is clicking and moving slightly.

Its a Jan 2004 RX300 SE.

Canr open tailgate - back doors or anything - don't know how but drivers door was open - now its locked but passenger door is open!

Waiting for a mate to come and use his Jump Leads...............any ideas?

Is this normal behaviour for a flat Battery?

Dave, Oldham UK.

oh and another thing, if he jump leads are not thick enough you could still have a problem. I've had that before, jump leads not enough to start, RAC guy's leads straight on and away it went. Pays to get a really decent set, not the cheap ones most car outlets sell.

nice of you to register in april and your first post is to ask for help tho!

What does that mean?

Is it a bad thing I have done? Is this the wrong place to ask for help? Can you please explain?

I bought the car in April and joined the forum to do lots of reading up about the vehicle before I made the purchase.

Thanks for all the suggestions - it was the Battery - I took it for a long run yesterday but its gone again this morning so looks like a new Battery. Will have a trip to Halfords tomorrow.

Thanks

Dave

Hi

Well I went to Halfords and they refused to touch it.......and so did Kwik Fit.

But found a company called Griffin Batteries who have branches around Manchester - they came out and fitted me a new Battery for £70.00 which I thought was really good.

Only thing now is only my drivers e;ectric window works - none of the others seem to work - is there a child mode on the windows that has reverted back to?

Looked in handbook but could not see anything?

Seems strange as my drivers window is fine !

Hi

Well tonight I solved the problem - when i got in I noticed all the electric window buttons were flashing - so starting with the rear windows I put them all down with their respective switches (ie not the drivers master control) - and back up again - 1 by 1 - then hey presto they all work from the drivers door !

Just guessing but it may be some sort of max up and down that needs to be set after a Battery change.
