you may be right BUT I remember seeing Gord's BM's fuel comp reading over 40 mpg @ 140 + mph...................my Aristo does about 5mpg at that speed...............

May do on petrol but used chip pan and peanut oil will always be there for the diesels to run on.

Diesels may be "gay" but they have a nice flat torque curve with plenty of push :o

Area under the torque curve is more important than peaks.

Still got some way to go to convince me of oil burners. For smooth power delivery across the whole of the revband, it's still petrol with no ifs or buts. Diesel just gives you all the grunt in one big surge - it's like being hit in the face with a spade and then after a second it's gone, then you change and it happens again. Not to mention the noise. dugudugudugudugudugudugudug. No sexy really is it (but then what do I know about sexy? I'm fat and going bald!)? Not like the purr of a petrol anyway. But then, having said that, diesel owners are laughing all the way to the bank so touche.
