Steering Play

Hi guy`s i have play in the steering rack of my 99GS300 when i drive over stones i can feel every one through the steering wheel, and when i rock the steering wheel from side to side while stopped i can feel and here the play in it. i took it to lexus and they said i would need a new or refurbished rack and even then they would`nt garauntee that it would solve the problem, ( i know strange ) i also have a shuder when braking but i just fitted new discs and pads. Anybody got any help on this!!!

Has all this started since you fitted the new discs and pads ,if so could somethuing be loose (regarding the shudder)

The dealer is talking pants.... Either the rack has play or not simple as that. I would seek independent advice and be guided by a more sensible reply.

Thanks for the advice guy`s ill check it out a bit more.
