Poor Reception

anybody else have poor reception i have a 2003 is200 se with standard HU and areal but my radio reception is poor its alwayts crackling and begining to do my head in

is this the norm or is there something wrong somewhere that maybe you guys in the know could point me in the right direction

It has a powered amplified aerial,

maybe that's up the duff ?

is there anyway i can check if its connected properly or something as i like listening to the radio and its getting in my ti ts

I don't know cos changed all mine over to Alpine stuff.

it should be fine as I always had good reception from

the Lexus unit.

best to take the head unit out and check the aerial hasn't come lose..

might give it a go just thought there maybe a quick fix as taking the hu out looks quite a daunting task from the guide posted on here

every ten minutes or so I get a complete gap in sound on the radio..lasts about half a second but bloody annoying

i removed hu and all connections were sound so im thinking it must be the amplified ariel unit

its just annoying crackling sometimes its not too bad but other times its terrible

Do you have Traffic Announcement turned on? If so, try turning it off. If it's this it happens on most radio's with a traffic system.

ta isn't on i never have it on only when needed as it does my head in it always interups a good song lol

its very strange because judging from other ppl it seems some ppl have great reception and others poor so it may just be a manufacturing fault would be interesting to know what year of manufacture have good reception and which has poor

cheers Keith,I will have to have a look...never did read the manual

as for general radio reception..pretty dire, sounds very shallow even with base turned up 04 reg IS200 here

CD player is fine however.
