If we're at a stage were scuff plates are wired into the car's electrical system, and have an inbuilt display, it seems a very small step, and natural progression, to start providing internet access through them :)

How about a traffic report on the scuff plates, so that when you open the door you can decide whether you want to actually get in and undertake your journey?

Or, how about showing text messages like, "don't forget to get some milk on the way home", I know I forget that sort of thing between the office and the car-park :)

Lexus are clearly onto something, and I think that's an inadvertent pre-announcement...
