Looking at buying a camcorder, dont really wanna spend big bucks as it will only get used every now and then and my digital camera takes good clips but it eats my memory card!

Looked at a few, have about £200-£250 in mind....know its not alot but any help much appreciated.

Anything to look out for? Etc etc.....

Cheers,

Kaz :D

If u can afford go for 3ccd ones as they give you much better color and quality.

3CCD is a system in the camera to provide better colour fill, and together with stabilisers to reduce shaking are brilliant. 3CCD is actually very close to Broadcast quality - it is the best you can currently get on the open market though Sony are allegedly producing something better...as normal.... It is marketed as "Broadcast quality". There are some HD ones around now, but ridiculously expensive and only good if you've cash to burn but are leagues apart!!

Check out this at wikipedia:

I set my self a small budget, and bought a JVC GR-DX107ex from Rackhams, it was the last one they had and sold it to me for £100 with £80 free accessories! I couldn't believe it...

It takes both miniDV tape and SD cards, and takes snapshots too at 1.3mpxl. It has JVC's own image stabiliser and it's fine for normal home movies. Jessops sell if tor £239 and even at that price it is really good. it's a proper Palm Corder - so small it fits in your palm. The picture quality is absolutely great and it has firewire for Downloading.

If you do buy one on the 'net, buy PAL, not NTSC, as some TV's here still don't support it (at least the older ones might not).

Check out DABS.com. They do a Panasonic One for less than £200. Their Cust service is improving, that's all I will say! Check this out:

PS - don't confuse these new MiniDV corders with old VHS or Hi8 - MiniDV in my view are much better.
