Altezza Rings Or Valve Seals?

Hi All

I have a 2000 altezza (AS200) so just the standard 6 cylinder. The car has 87,000 on it and I have had it when it was firstly imported with 5,000 on it at 6 months old. It is now using oil at a rate that makes me think either rings or valve seals. There seems to be no big plumes of smoke when driving though if you let it tick over for a few minutes and floor the throttle a few times it will kick out a few plumes, but not blue. The car has spent half its life sat on motorways at 80 and has never been abused and has a good service history. Has anyone got any ideas or has anyone experienced the same.

p.s. its yellow with a nice factory wing on the boot, always turns heads and is for sale!

It was a bit tongue in cheak! I love the car and with the prospect of 20 grand (that I dont have really!) to get what I want as a replacement Im coming round to the idea of a few grand to make it sweet and a few grand making it a bit more special and just keep driving her for a few more years even if she is only an AS

Valve seals normally give a puff of smoke on start up, the oil leaks past into the combustion chambers while the engine is stopped.

Piston rings will "make smoke" on the overrun as oil is draw up the bores by the vacuum in the cylinders, a compression test will tell you for sure.
