Phone Mount

:D First posting but so excited, as four weeks today I get my new IS250 Auto in Cadoxton Slate, I just cant wait as I've been so smitten since the test drive.

Can anyone help as I cant find a telephone mount for this vehicle, I will be having a Nokia CK-7W car kit fitted with a 6233 and don't want the dash drilled. Company requirement is fully fitted kit with phone charging.

I tried to order a Brodit mount but they have be taken out of retail sales for QC issues, I would prefer a mounting that doesn't cover the air vents....can anyone help.

Snap. Mine should arrive in 4 weeks too. Just in time for the 07 plate :D

I really liked the Cadoxton slate, but didn't like the idea of it showing scratches and watermarks so easily.

(All the ones in the dealership did, even when they were just washed, because of the "drip" points like the wing mirrors)

One of them had a scratch that really stuck out, but on my GTA it wouldn't have shown at all, being silver.

I went for the Argento on that basis.

What colour's your interior coming in?

Can't help at all on the phone mounting topic, though  heh

I noticed that lexus do phone mounting kits, but I've got no interest in them.

With my new Motokrzr K1 I finally got a phone where I don't have to take it out of my pocket ever.

I'm a bit concerned about the Bluetooth binding woes I've heard of, though.

Yeah I was a bit concerned about the colour but having had silver cars for the last 12 years and the family were giving me grief, so I'll give it a go.

I did umm and ahh a bit and have been into so many dealerships looking at colours.

I do 30,000 per year so black interior

Thanks is200johnb, I found that one and just wondered if there are any others.

Have you used this type, if so was it a good fit.

Thanks Iain

Iain,

I have this in the car since June '06. Its a good fit and is fairly rigid. Its also easy to change the cradle if you upgrade your phone.

Had the dashmount in many of my my previous cars - I swear by them. The only thing that I would say with the new IS one is that it "clips" in.

Luckily in all of my previous cars it was bolted in behind the trim, stereo facsia etc, and so was sturdy. These car kits can get heavy with a phone on them and you really want to be sure it'll hold the phone, be OK if accidentally knocked etc.

PS - just look at how it distorts the "elephant hide". The gaps are so thin, and I just hope you don't start getting rattles....

Check this Leather/Letherette Console out instead. Some of them do need a DAshmount bracket, others not. I think the IS250 one does not. It will need to be screwed in though, but they really look cool.

Hi

I'm getting dashmount to put in a kit on Monday including the leatherette console. Cost is £269 - but that includes stereo muting, using the existing speakers, screen mounted antenna etc.

I'll report in next week on the outcome.

I had a sniff at www.spcommunications.co.uk but they were quoting £299. Both companies come to you and fit at work or home. Dashmount have been very helpful in arranging exact imings etc so good news so far.

I went for the console as I think the dashmount 'no drill' bracket and where it would sit would not look quite so good.

Hope this helps!

:) Firstly many thanks to everyone for posting replies, Jamie I have gone for your recommendation for the plummer.co.uk. console, many thanks.

Its a leatherette or leather console type and extremely good value including delivery for less than £40, I did consider the dashmount but the trim looks pretty tight and this would have cost me £20 inc postage.

I guess you pays your money and make a choice, I'll let you know how pleased I am when I get the car.

Thanks

Iain
