Help! - I Need A Front And Rear Tyre

Recommended Posts

Hi people,

My car failed its MOT on Saturday do to a worn front and rear tyre. :tsktsk:

I've tried everywhere including distributors and even Pirelli UK who have said there is a back order and wont be getting any delivery from Italy till about Feb 2007. :tsktsk:

the tyres are Pirelli P-Zero Rosso 275 35 R18 - Rear

P-Zero Rosso 245 40 R18 - Front

As it has not MoT and Tax I cant drive it as it wont be covered by insurance, already paid for the MOT and unless i get the Tyres sorted and on the car within 10 days i will get charged again.

If anyone knows where i can source these tyres from please let me know.

would really appreciate any help!

Cheers.

Just spoken to a guy I know and he reckons that the 275 is on back order and it will be New Year before he gets any in!!

Maybe try for a part worn to get you through your MOT untill then?

Change all 4!

You do not want a mismatched pair of tyres on either axle in all honesty so get all 4 changed!

Sure someone said it's not a good idea to change just one side on it's own as the handling will be different on each corner I think?

I had the other two tyres replaced a couple of months back due to a couple of punctures and the ones that need replacing now seemed fine so didnt do all four.

Only other option i can think off is borrow a couple of my mates wheels (who obviously has a 300 sport as well with the same tyres) and just get it through the MOT that way.

That would certainly get you out the hole you're currently in. BUT bear in mind that when you swap them back, you'll be facing 6 points and a £2000 fine if you are unlucky enough to get stopped or involved in an accident and the police take a look.

3pts/£1000 per tyre these days!

If you have the cash available, you could change all 4 and keep the 2 newer ones for next time. Lots of money now, but it'll only cost you £20 or so to change a pair next time.
