5 flashes dosn't completly alarm the car it enables you to have movment inside the vehcle ie dog kids etc

Simple one really, when I lock my car (1999 GS Sport) on the button twice the indicators flash 5 times, is this alerting me to a fault or is it normal, I've only had my car 6 months but have never noticed ! Thanks in advance Chris

I assume the system is the same as the 1999 IS, where one click on the button locks it normally, hit the lock button twice, and it un-deadlocks it and disables the interior motion sensors.

So in essence, just press the lock button once (one indicator flash) when locking normally.

As far as I can remember you cannot un-deadlock a 1999 IS. The second press disables the interior sensor but the doors remain deadlocked. If you don't want them to be deadlocked you need to use the key rather than the remote to lock the door. Is is a poor safefy issue that was addressed on newer models.

Only face-lift GS300s (Nov 2000 onwards) have deadlocking. The second press on a 1999 model, as stated by GWilso, disables the interior sensor.
