I searched around a bit before I insured my GS300 and surprised as hell when that bloody annoying dog from Churchill came up with the best deal for me online.

1994 GS300 for £300 ish ( I can't remember the exact figure and am to lazy to dig out the sheet) fully comp,,, ok me and my misses are over 50, and live in Cornwall, but it was less than the Mondeo diesel it replaced, which really did surprise me, as due to company cars for ages and ages I only have (now reads had :crybaby: ) 2 years ncb

Then I had my bump, and this is where insurance companies usually get most hate reviews,,,and I have to say Churchill did well here, no claim form but all done over the telephone, they agreed a local repair garage that came and assesed the damage to the car, agreed insurance repair cost in 3 days threw in a courtesy car, (Polo that I hated but beggars can't be choosers) then didn't haggle over a deal for not having the car repaired so I would do it myself and the cheque arrived in 3 days

I even called them and talked over the mods I am planning to carry out on the car with them, and their tuning specialist called me back to check out what I was planning and quoted an extra £95 a year as long as I don't change the wheels and tyre sizes or fit wheel spacers or change the suspension set ups

According to their statistics, tuned cars with different wheel or suspension combinations are a massively higher accident risk, apparently changing the wheels, tyre sizes or suspension messes up the ABS and braking and they don't like cars that differ in that way

It will actually take a hell of a deal to get me away from Churchill next year, but if A Plan want to try they are more than welcome to have a go

Churchill do seem to be lenient towards Lexus owners at this moment in time. My insurance is due on the GS300 soon so I had a look around, well, confused.com did, and churchill were the cheapest and had the 2nd best excess payment, strangely Kwik-fit put in a good showing too, they usually charge the earth then bring it down when you haggle.

Churchill wanted £347 fully comp, protected ncb, £350 XS. Damn sight better than £510 with Frizzell, and I'm under 50 with 2 bans and 9 points, allbeit more than 5 years ago now so they are spent.

It's such a lottery getting insurance at the right price. When I got my licence back for the second time in 1995 I didn't think I would be able to get insured again, so I went to a broker-before the days of online stuff-and he explained that insurance companies target particular groups of high risk people and offer low/affordable policies just to get the business (and quite probably keep people legal).

Now that premiums are getting higher as cars get more powerful it's good to know that you can still get reasonably priced policies and the insurance companies are still offering good rates to target groups, like us!

Ours was less than an 120K p Reg 1.5 N/A 106 pug DIESEL to insure!

how does that work?

I was surpried with mine, I went through Chaucer (broker), details show A-Plan as the insurer - only £597 for me, max NCB and 35 years young, also have my wife on the insurance who is epaletic

When I first got the car, £800 with the same company, have been with Chaucer now for about 3 years

Now have the second run-about with them aswell, cheap as chips

I still have to say this cos i myself dont believe it.

My initial quote when i was buying the car was 750 I picked up my jacket and told the salesman that i wasnt paying 750 insurance on a car so i wasnt buying the lex.

When the colour returned to his face he offered my an extra £250 off my car if i could get £250 off the insurance with another company he suggested.

Well to to my luck i got the insurance down to £500 and pocketed an extra £250 off the cost of the car.

THEN things got better. Wife and i did some tinternet quotes and came up with a Multicar policy with Admiral. Isuring Both my car and the Wifes car Moving the larger no claims onto the Lex and including the extra % for monthly payments we worked out at £520 for BOTH cars.

hell from what was going to be nearly a £1k combined insurance bill halfed all down to a bit of good searching online.
