Can someone get a front on pic of the white connector? The part of the cable ive drawn round looks like a standard ISO connector that would be available in a place like Halfords.

Looks like this guys basically just got a lead that will fit onto the wire going too the speakers as pictured below:...

...and then just extended it, adding a couple of wires and doing a neat job of it and then selling it for £60!

I looked in halfors today for the part ive circled but couldnt find any.

you wont find the white connector in Halfords or any other liek place. its unique to toyota. certainly the connector for my nav bypass unit was unique and i had to buy a minimum of 100 pieces.

Thanks for the offer Lee, but you're about a million miles away from me!!! :D

Anyway, I'm gonna give it another crack after work on Saturday. Admittedly it was dark when I first tried and I couldn't see a damn thing B), so that probably don't help!!! I'll use all the the advise you guys have given me and with a bit of luck we should be in business.

Anyone got any ideas on where the best place to fit the iPod adapter would be  Its a bit bigger than I thought and probably needs to be somewhere accessable.

Cheers Guys, will keep you posted! :excl:

Hello i mounted my ipod adaptor at the side of where you put the stereo back in

so imagine when you are sitting in car your left knee is resting against the trim

its on the inside of that using the velcro that come with the adaptor(PIONEER)

and it fits well and allows you to then put Head unit housing back in with no problems

then i routed the white cable with plug for ipod over the top to the glove box

i will try n post pics soon

Matt

Hi people,

thought i would drop a message on here before i spend a lot of money, and the list the things i was looking to put in the motor,

firstly i have no idea what the model number is on the Amp, i have not even had the head unit out so a complete noob to this.

the Lexus i have is a IS200 on an X plate.

what i have been looking to get is the following,

http://www.alpine-europe.com/content/engli...ia-Stations.htm

now i was wondering if you guys could help me on this one. as i understand from reading through this really well put together thread, that i will need one of the wiring lumes from eBay and a fascia, for this head unit tom work.

Is there anyone who can confirm that on the information i have given. if not i will give more i really would like to start getting the parts so i can get it all fitted in.

Please Help

Hi,

Been reading this thread with some interest after working on a IS200 today and bypassing the Amp to fit a nice new Stereo

Bit shocked at the £54.95 price the guy on eBay is charging for the bypass lead, we made up an almost identical item as a one off and if there is still enough interest in these would be able to make up some more without too much difficulty. Even in small numbers we should be able to knock them out for under £40, obviously if we could get enough orders this could be reduced further!

Sorry if I should have registered as a trader or something before making this post but just thought I would see if there is any interest for these leads.

Only major difference in the lead we can make up is that it is a one piece lead, cant see the point in having the extra connection so near the amplifier plug just likely to cause connection problems.

Cheers,

J.

Hi my lexus is a IS200SE

sorry about the account something happened to it and caused me not to be able to log in.

I would be interested in getting one of them leads if i do need one just trying to clarify if i do or not.

Hi

To check if you need this lead then have a look behind your glovebox (this can be dropped down by popping out the 2 hinge pins under the front of it) and see if the amplifier is there, it will look like the one in photo below!

Hope this helps,

or if you have an altezza or S model IS then you dont need one..

Unless your Altezza has the 8 speaker system, i'm sure IRLRS200 has an amp.

nice one people thanks for that i will get that checked out, has anyone got a head unit with a screen, and did you have any problems with it? (for example the screen tilt not sitting right because of the slant of the dash etc)

I've got a screen in my Lex but i went for a double DIN type screen. I.e. the whole front of the stereo is a screen. I thought this was a better plan as with a pop out screen it blocks access to the air con controls.

@CCA

I also made my own, but i had too put the wires directly into that plug.

(Plug shown below is the one that comes out of the amp and goes too the speakers etc, and i put the wires into those slots)

DSC00268-1.jpg

Idealy what i want is a male end of that plug so i can crimp the wires into that then connect that onto the plug that goes too the speakers.

How did you overcome this problem?

As you can see below i have circled the part i need. Not being funny too Fargo or anyone else, but this really does look like a connector you would buy at Halfords etc (not that i have been able too find it at Halfords).

It looks too me like the guy had found a source of these ISO leads then just made an extension piece, which is like you said CCA 'cant see the point in having the extra connection so near the amplifier plug', why didnt he make it a one piece lead

Good luck with the search Vinokirk. If you do find any out there lets us know. You try a scrap yard, remove the amp and take it apart, unsolder the adapter and add your own wires.

I believe the Lexus part number for the connector on the loom is 90980-10848.

So does the one that the OEM radio connects to but its not. Its a special order and bulb buy only. As Fargo had to have a few made up.

Hi,

Well we got the car in a couple of weeks ago and had a look at the system, found the amplifier etc. and as you guys have found a suitable lead doesnt seem to be available for the amped lexus system. Our customer wanted a DVD touch screen etc. but wanted to be able to return the car to standard if he sells it in future so didn't want us to chop the loom.

We had to get the lead made up through a supplier of ours. Only after doing the job did we have a look here on the owners club just to see if this is a common thing and spotted this thread.

£54.95 is a bit steep for this type of lead, for that money we could easily throw in the fascia adaptor!!

We are going to get a few more made up and be selling the lead on eBay in the next week or so for around the £40 mark if anyone is interested.

If I get enough interest I should be able to get a discount from our supplier which I am happy to pass on to owners club members.

Personally I would rather deal direct as I am not a big eBay fan!

Cheers,

J.

How are you connecting the wires into that plug then? Have you found a source of male plugs?
