How Much Does Petrol Weigh?

Just a question that popped up in my head earlier - how much does fuel weigh?

Just wondered how much difference there was in the car when the petrol tank was fuel to say when it was empty - I know in the case of the Aristo it's a 75litre thank I think - what does that equate to in kg's?

1 litre weighs a smidge under 1 kilo, fuel being lighter than water

If you find out the density of the fuel, then you can calculate the amount you have by the density and it should give you the weight.....im thinking anyway!!!

Cool thanks guys, so with 50kg in the boot the car would always feel planted like it does with a full tank, just noticed the car is always more sure of itself with a full tank, not much but just enough to notice :)

And you'll be lucky to pump into your car the same density of fuel each time, well thats what we find when we bunker 12000tonnes of the stuff :D :P

so a full tank to a pretty empty tank is about the same weight as a passenger (ish)

thats true, but seeing as most fuel is stored below ground, its normally kept at a consistent temprature
