Did this really happen ?

Yep!... for the reasons explained in the link the shop failed to realise the difference between the owners single wheel jacking point and the shops four wheel lift jacking points.. Once the technician removed the OSF wheel to repair a puncture the cars balance was compromised and it fell off the lift :o

i noticed on the other pics that they closed the door behind the ramp that the lotus fell off,why was this :blush:

Yeah, the guy actually took the manual and stuff and explained about lifting the lotus being a specific art (there is a section in the elise manual)...

Whats worse is, the garage is owned by his uncle!

surely you would never think of lifting something by a thin rod! surely it cant be that complicated to just put the 4 arms (aslong as there either side of the pivot point) in and lift?

surely a garage wouldn't need a manual?

please correct me if im wrong.

The Elise - due to its short wheelbase, light weight and mid-engine, cannot be lifted by the 4-point lift on the standard jack points - it requires a very specific weight balance for that type of lift, as explained in the manual...

Experienced garages would probably "know what they're" doing... for most common cars...

Guess not many Elises go to this one...

Actually, if it was only a puncture why on earth did they lift it so high? could have lifted it a foot up took the wheel off and it would have just landed, although not nicely, on the rear wheels and nothing would have been damaged apart from a few mecanics hearts.

ohhh it was so high because the mecanic was prob too lazy to bend down!? (im not saying all mecanics are lazy before a get pepered with verbal abuse.) :D

Cant see the problem, its not a world different to the sorta quality workmanship that goes into Lotus cars..... :lol:
