My GS300 has done 108,000 miles and runs sweetly.

I am a stickler for oil and filter changes every 10k, cambelt changes, checking fluids and tyres as well as ensuring the braking system is sound.

Apart from these the service schedule just shows checks which I can do easily myself. If there are no warning lights or undue symptoms, is there much point in dealer servicing?

Hi,

If your worried about keeping the service history up together (if it has all the history) then when you come to sale the car you might sale it quicker and maybe get a few extra hundred quid for it.

Myself id change all the filters and oil myself and save yourself some money, you also know that the works been done right.I dont really trust garages myself :shifty:

Cheers..

Chips.

Seconded. At that age most buyers won't be expecting a FLSH anyway, as long as you have stamps at the right time and have a garage you trust do the work, I don't think there's much point paying the extra really!

I totally agree.

My GS is twelve years old, I do all the minor service checks and have a respected non franchised mechanic do the fluids etc.

Just had a 10,000 mile standard service done for a £150 and all fluids were replaced that needed to be with proper Toyota 'stuff', that's brake fluid, engine oil, power steering, and gearbox.

The service book gets a stamp everytime too.

I reckon I must have saved nearly a grand in maintenance costs over the four years I have been running this car.
