As above really. Does it make any difference to wear if you have a higher speed rated tyre?

I have Z rated on my car but have been looking around and you can get H's cheap that are rated for 130mph...I don't do that kind of speed.

its fine to go over

but it must be rated to the cars performance and not the fact you dont do 130 mph :D

Stock IS200 is rated for 130mph or theres abouts? So H rated tyres are fine then?

i think we all know they would be fine, however it is a legal issue, best check with Tony at WIM

I thought the "H" rated tyres were up to 130mph, so we would need the "Z" for the IS.

V rated tyres are rated up to 149 mph

Z are 149 and over

What everyone is missing here is how the overall rating is categorized. The speed rating is part of the overall construction of the tyre, within the speed rating is the load rating. This determines the vehicle weight and every possible element required for the model in question not just the overall possible speed limit of the tyre.
