Car Pc

Recommended Posts

Thinking of sticking a car PC into my rs just have a few questions

1.Thinking of getting this 7 inch touchscreen. Can this be mounted in the existing factory GPS screen housing?

2. Was going to base the system on a laptop. How would i switch between music from the HU and laptop?(Aftermarket HU fitted)

3. How would i connect the laptop to the sound system in the car?

Im sure i can figure these out once i got started but would just like to know these few in advance.

Cheers

Should be easy if your aftermarket HU has aux-in. Just come out of the 3.5mm jack on soundcard and plug it into the headunit. Monitor looks fine to me.

Duh never thought of that! so would i need to modify the factory monitor housing to fit this screen, or would i have to modify the new screen?

Quite possibly, never really had a look at the OEM nav screen. I know a few on here have modified the housing for a normal monitor.

The new monitor will be just plug and play, one lead for monitor out of laptop and one USB lead for the touchscreen part.
