Cracked Windscreen

Got in the lex this morning.......thought something looked wrong...

Flaming windscreen has cracked all the way across the bottom

In the words of Mr Meldrew " I don't believe it "

Then to cap it all the CD player has gone on the blink refusing to play or eject CD's aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

window cracked through someone "abusing" it - or just one of those things?

I had a stone chip in the screen the size of a pin head.......I think the frost got into it and when I switched on the heater it then cracked.....the crack goes either side of the pin head thingy........

Bad luck mate - I hope the several chips I have on my windscreen don't do the same....

windscreen repair places will fix a chip for free (on your insurance )

no damage to no claims etc

had 4 chips repaired so far gratis

the company will rather pay for a chip repair £30

than a window

so no excuse get a chip get it fixed your windscreen is weaker with a chip in it

Direct Line have agreed to fit a new screen next week :D

Will fix any cracks next time as soon as they happen....this one was one of those that every time i got in the car i said .........must get that done........and didnt

The bottom of the front screen is heated - along where the wipers are.

Maybe that's what turned the chip into a split ..

I've been saving mine up - I've got two cracks and two chips. It's time to get them sorted though - the car has it's first MOT on Friday. Just phoned up - insurance company uses Silverscreen and they're coming Thursday morning. I didn't want to pay out the windscreen excess for replacement each time so thought I'd get them all done together just before the MOT. Hmm cutting it a bit fine - I hope they bring the right windscreen. Hopefully I won't get another crack on the way home on Thursday!

I agree that the heated screen may have caused the crack to appear with the rapid change in temperature.........

Any way lets see if the screen lasts through a moderte frost !
