On the off side caliper only one of the pistons is coming out when the brake is applied. The otherone moves a bit when pushed but only the one comes out under braking. Will the repair kit solve this or do I need a new caliper?

Thanks

Hi,

The common problem is rust/corrosion on the side of the brake pistons causing them to stick on not return properly.Sometimes just taking the pistons out and rubbing off the corrosion will fix the problem. The kits are good if there is fluid lose through the piston walls.

Sounds like a semi seized piston to me.

Its always worth when changing the brake pads to pump the pistons out and clean around the sides of them to avoid future problems.

well I've worked the pistons in and out on both sides for a while and it seems to have fixed the problem. Set of new brake pads and all is sweet again.

Thanks for your input guys

turned out to be the sliding bolt that was seizing. cleaned out, greased up and new one ordered will be ordered today as it had slight pitting in it. Got some Castrol LM high melting point grease to put in, this stuff will be ok won't it?

HMPG will work but copper grease is better - its made for the job
