help,how do you replace rear number plate bulb on a 2001 is200.don't want to pull the car apart if i dont need to.have looked in owners book and it shows all bulbs but not this one. :)

There is two clear caps ........ both held in by two small screws .........

Look up undernearth the bonnet ... towards the keyhole, you can't miss it ! :yawn:

A bit of a PITA job, I'm afraid.....

Remove the liner from the inner boot lid, remove the two bolts, remove the strip, the boot lock and get to the bulbs from the inside.

You need to remove the plastic trim where the boot lock is, to so you need to take off the boot trim, half of it anyway which is held in by push in black clip things which are a mare to pull out, then where the boot lock is are 4 8mm bolts, undo these and with a bit of force the trim will pull out from the outside and then you can have access to the holders from...the outside, pull these out and you will then be able to change the bulbs.

Its no wonder they didn't publish how to change them cos its a lot of effort for such a little job!

rich,all apart now but light unit apears to be stuck,should i pull, turn or what :blink: all this for a small bulb :D

It should just pull out with a bit of effort.

Told you it was a PITA job :lol:

sorted :D pulled with one hand and slid a screwdriver behind ( from inside bootlid ) to push clip so it would pop out easier.
