Defenders L - R

A. Cole / Terry / Ferdinand / Neville (Carragher if Neville not fit)

Midfield L - R

J. Cole / Lampard / Hargreaves ( Sitting back playing holding role) / Gerrard (playing off lone striker/ more of a free role) Beckham (tell him to stay on the wing and attack)

Strikers

Rooney

Subs

Lennon for Becks if he's not taking players on and getting down the wing. As this is something we are desperately missing down the right..

Crouchy to stir things up towards the end. For one of the midfielders, depending on fitness and how they are playing..

I dont think Theo will be given a chance as its a bit late now to give someone who's not even played in the Prem a shot in the world cup 1/4 final etc.. Also David James.. I'd send him home now just incase Robinson gets injured. We dont want him replacing him.. :duh:

Well today is the day where we need to up our game and progress to the semi finals..

2-1 England :D

COME ON ENGLAND :D

Posted

It will end in tears, i have a feeling.

I wont put any more money on because of the referees.

Argentina were robbed yesterday.

England deserved to win that.. But i felt if it went to penaltys Ricardo would probably come back to haunt them, let alone Scalari!

Now the inquest will begin, the if's... the but's... But Englands going home! :(

England should reach their optimum peak at the time of the final............but unfortunately, it will be too late, they won't be there. I hope I am wrong but I just cannot see them progressing any further than the Semi-Final.

Almost right :D .........I do believe the ref showed a distinct Bias to Portugal at times

Why on earth did Sven take only 4 strikers to the World Cup when two were injured (Owen/Rooney), one he doesn't rate that highly (Crouch) and one that he will never play (Wallcock)???

After seeing the brilliant France Vs Brazil game and the technical ability of the players in the game - I just don't think that England are on that level and even if they had beaten Portugal I couldn't have seen them beating France.

So im wondering who id like to win now, and after much thinking, and looking at the performance tonight, i think i will favour France.

Saying that i still wont even buy an apple if its from there :)

Now that the analysis has started...... J. Cole , Hargreaves & Lennon were the stars of the England side.... IMHO

Rooney can only blame himself.... It's the world Cup... loads of cameras, silly refs...... the boy needs to grow up...... though Ronaldo should have kept his nose out... Rooney reminds me a lot of Gazza, genius but flawed

I knew Lampard would miss, he had no luck all through and it destroyed his confidence......

The Cup is there for the taking at this stage....... Germany or France methinks :)

The commentator on the telly was quite funny saying that it will be the "lottery" of penalties again.... Erm....NO Motty, England ALWAYS loose penalty shootouts, so no lottery about it!

The Portugal keeper did brilliantly though didn't he?... seems to be a specialist shot stopper.

England were sh!te plain and simple, no excuses.

Decent players, sh!te as a team.

Lucky they got as far as they did TBH.

Sh!te formation with sh!te managerial decisions. The leery, bald headed coot, Sven needs to cash his pension now.

Their first game against Portugal, the first half was the only time they played well. After that just plain bad.

The Portugal keeper did play well. He certainly loves stopping our penalties. I thought the team played well and were on top of Portugal. We obviously had to defend with 10 men and we defended well..

Sven has now gone. Now Beckham has stepped down as England Captain..

Who's next? Gerrard or Terry get my vote.

Roll on Euro 2008 :winky:

yea the england boys didn't live up to expectations IMHO. but this is the big stage, the World Cup, a team has to peak at the right moment and i'm afraid England lagged behind.

Well, my vote has to go to the Italian boys, even though they're gonna be up against it with the Germans :hehe:

You can blame the 451, or the lack of extra strikers etc. the team was naff, no question, and to lose against portugal who couldn't threaten anyone is so poor.

McLaren will learn...hopefully! He's been Sven right hand man and again I thought he was calling the shots....if that's the case it'll be another wasted 6 years!

Bekham has quit as Captain (Thank g6d) according to BBC today

Agree!

Really happy for Del Piero too, after his past serious injuries, missed penalities and missed chances (remember the Euro 2000 final?) He deserved that goal!

Germany played well too and were actually my pick to win it!

Hopefully its a great Final. :D

Super super game, Del Piero... they should have got him on earlier :D

The final should be a corka :D

Can't wait - France will (obviously) beat the Portugese today....so Italy v France....what a prospect.

Latest on Rooney:

HERE

I can't believe how everyone's trying to defend Rooney. He stamped on the mans manhood...then we wonder why in society we have such loutish behaviour!!!

I know he's the future of English football, but come on! He was crowded out by 3 players, couldn't win the ball fairly, was going down and lashed out his leg - and now the FA talk about a "Potential" foul against Wayne in that same incident...

What does that teach our youngsters? I know there has been a lot of bad behaviour in this tournament, but how is this going to help?

My son used to go to play football at a supposedly well organised club. In the end we stopped him going becasue the language was terse to say the least, the behaviour of the coaches was encouraging bad language and children were being called all sorts of things...some bordering on racist!

We tried another and it was the same. In the end he gave up Footie altogether!!

He now swims for a local club, likes Badminton and Cricket!!

No wonder there aren't decent "home grown" players around, or at least not as many as you'd like!
