Engine Rattle?

Hi to all.

A new member here but been visiting for some time now. :)

I have a 2000 RS200 with a rattle.

Seems to be coming from low down on the engine. Right hand side as you look under bonnet.

The rattle is not there when it is cold, but is noticeable once warmed and idling. I have noticed that it goes if you increase the the rpm to just above idle, about 1000rpm. Car seems to run fine apart from this damn rattle.

Any suggestions???

Thanks in advance.

Update so far.......

Have just cleaned MAF sensor and reset ecu.

car drives nicer, so an improvement there.... but still is rattling on tick-over.

have cambelt and tensioner on order, as car has 50,000 miles on it, will try that next........

Thought that it may be aircon pump.

When stripping down for cambelt change, gonna run car with the two auxillary belts removed. rule out the bolt-ons that way.

Will keep you informed.....

Thanks......
