Got a message as follows from the Ipswich dealership yesterday...

<<<<<<<<<<

We have a ls400 registered in august 1990 it has come into us because it had a problem with the brakes seized on but needs loads of parts to fix.

One of the rear hub bush`s has gone so hub & bearing required possibly driveshaft plus all the brake parts.

At this stage I shall not give the customers details although he is happy for me to pass them on if we get any interest.

>>>>>>>>>>

I think the owner is seeing if anyone could make use of his car... maybe as a parts car ?

I don't know who it is but can find out if need be...

In fact if anyone has any interest, may i suggest a call to Gavin at Lexus Ipswich would provide more info..

Interesting. From most owners perspectives, that car is a writeoff as those hubs are megabucks, as is anything related to the driveshaft!!!

for those who are new to lexus how can you tell if the hub is busted???

thanks

Mat ,if your hub is knackered the rear end of the car will float about. When you brake the rear wheel will twist abit and the tyre will wear on the outside edges, and most of all if u jack the wheel off the ground you will have excessive side ways play.Hope this helps Andy

Yeah if your car is high mileage the bushes at the back have probably gone. Drive round a bend that has a ridge across the road. Notice how the back of the car seems to hop like a kangaroo (not in a big way, but noticeable).
