I have this too...hasn't bothered me up to this point...would like to know what it is tho.

when can is ticking over in neutral and no pedals pushed it kinda rattles a bit.

when the clutch pedal is pushed it stops rattling.

dont know if its the splash plates or anything?

I know the clutch is hydrolic but there maybe a linkage need greasing or something?

Thanks for the reply

Does that mean the clutch is dying?

How long does the clutch last (i know depending on drivers) my cars hit 100k is it something that'l be comming up?

Any idea's of how much i will be putting into Lexus's pocket for just the clutch kit?

Cheers

Aaron

no, it doesn't mean your clutch is going, it is common practice to replace it during a clutch change, clutch kits are usually 3 piece, clutch, pressure plate & release bearing, i have no idea how much a clutch kit costs or the labour charge, although i would estimate £250-400 all in.

could that still go wrong befour needing a new clutch

Doubtful but I'd recommend having the Clutch checked out at that Mileage.

I've just had a new Clutch fitted to mine, cost for the kit £280.

Osaka Autodesign charged me £150 for fitting which is pretty good, as they are both Toyota Specialists :shifty:

Also had the timing belt and Drivebelts done at the same time, all new :D

Pretty good! that's a steal mate :D

Considering the gear box has to come out to do the clutch and the cam/timing belt is no quick job.

I finally got the car into the dealers, they reckon it's the bearings in the gearbox which is a characteristic of that type of box.

Unless it's making an excessive noise they wont replace them. I was told that in the past they've stripped gearboxes down and fitted new bearings only to find that it doesn't improve the noise.

Whilst there we tried two newer IS200's on the forecourt, one a sport and the other an IS. Both made this same noise, although one was slightly quieter.

They also said that there is a very slight whine from the clutch bearing, but nothing to worry about.
