Yesterday my jack Russel, was playing with another dog at Otley Chevin, they ran towards a cliff, and the other dog stopped, whislt Smidge just ran out into thin air .

This is like the cliff, only without the trees at the top :

We expected him to be laid out on a rock 20-30 ft below, when we caught up he was just desperately trying to find a way back up.

I nearly broke my neck trying to get to him.

He appears to be totally OK, although we think he may be a bit sore today, maybe bruised.

at least he's OK...

reminds me of the time my Labrador ran towards the beach @ hengitsbury head at full tilt....looked behind to look for me.............flew off the sea wall crash landed so 5 foot down..........I was 50 metres away........up popped an irate male sumbather whom charlie had landed on :duh: needless to say I'd tucked the lead away so was innocent :D

Was on the beach at Winchelsea with my Lab many years ago, he wandered off and stepped into a mud hole (beach is well known for them).

He sunk up to his shoulders immediatly, wife shouts (something or other) me runs to dog with him looking at me soulfully ("***** Dad - I'm sinking!!") so I stepped in to help him out, sunk up to my thighs (jeans on of course), so he walked out the other side leaving me thigh deep and the wife laughing hysterically.

Its not a fair world!!!!

we had a rabbit that jumped off our roof

short story is :

in daughters bedroom (house trained)

jumped on bed

jumped on window sill

straight out onto the grd floor roof

then leapt for freedom !!!!

a leap to far :crybaby:

Thats we thought, just expected to see him laid out.

We drove home in silence like in shock.

We have had cats that do some remarkable stunts, one of them (the one that doubles Tonys headcase cat) goes out of the loft conversion window and stays out all night until we realised what he was doing - waiting for the birds on a morning.
