What does that red button near the gear lever do on a MK1 Aristo?

Enaables you to get it out of Park when you can't start the engine.

Is it not the same as the supra and allows you to take the key out of the ignition with the car in gear for servicing purposes.

No Bryan, it's so you can move the selector from "P" to any other postions without having to start the car or have your keys

So basically like I said to enable you to place it or leave it in gear with the keys out which is usually for servicing purposes I can't think of any other reason for leaving it in gear with the keys out.
