Is250 Due Shortly - Mot Expires Shortly !

I'm due to collect my new IS250SE on approx 10 March.

My current IS200 is 3 yrs old on 4 March and so will be due an MOT.

Do I risk being without an MOT for a few days or get one (despite the expense esp if the odd repair is required to pass) to be on the safe side.

Would my pt-ex with Lexus on the IS200 be jeopardised without an MOT ?

Any thoughts greatly appreciated.

You could wing it (and who would know) but it's blooming risky!

Strictly speaking your insurance would be invalidated, and if you were to have a knock, speeding ticket etc, the law won't allow for the excuse...

Bearing in mind you'll be 6 days away from a new car, if you are concerned and can manage, hand it in early if you're p/ex'ing it

- what was agreed with the dealer? Did they ask you when it was MOT'd until?

Does the dealership do MOT checks, if so have a word with them. If not you cannot drive the car to their garage legally. This puts you in a very awkward position allowing them to reduce you PX by probably more than the cost of an MOT.

Get it MOT'd first if I was you to be on the safe side.

Has the dealer moved your delivery date from when you originally placed the order ?? Could be they could take the hit for the MOT if they have.

If they haven't when you arranged your PX what did they say about the MOT then...guess they looked at it ?

Thanks for the advice everyone.

Getting my car MOT'd tom at a local garage which is most convenient for me.

To be fair I was never absolutely guaranteed the IS250 on 1 Mar so can't really expect the Lexus centre to foot the bill.

On the subject of MOT's, you may know that Local Authority MOT centres offer a good service and shouldn't rip you off as most will do the MOT but don't do repairs so they don't have an incentive to fail you !
