Guys heres an interesting question for ye! Does having a fire extinguisher in your cars over there effect your insurance premiums?

I know a guy who has a couple of fire engines.

I think he found them quite hard to insure

Probably not one of the vehicles on the insurance website lists....

nope, but its a legal requirement in Mainland europe

Not all of mainland Europe. France and Spain certainly don't require them, but they are on the recommended list. France and Spain you do require an emergency triangle and a set of spare light bulbs, however.

Of course I've never seen anyone in Belgium, NL, or Germany carrying them in their vehicles either.

I know of a few companies who use their computer centre's argon/fm200/halon fire protection systems integrated with their security/anti-intrusion system... Not a fun thing to walk into the computer centre, forget to disable the security system, and one minute later being asphyxiated because there's no oxygen left in the room... heh

Best thing to do , fit a smoke alarm on the inside roof of the car, if when you are driving and fall asleep

and you have a fire the alarm will go off and wake you up .. allowing for those valuable seconds to get out in time. better still get one with the light in it , so that you can see in the dark.

I think TRD do one of these. you should also consider a fire blanket in case you deep fat frier

goes on fire while your cooking chips in the back seat.

This'd be a bargain to insure, then!

I dare you to ring an Insurance company to find out how much it'll be

Just like the adverts...

"Hi, is that Direct Line? I'm after some insurance, and I'd like you to Quote Me Happy?"

"It's got 4 wheels"*

*according to the advert that's pretty much all they need to know. With Caller ID and access to DVLA driver & vehicle records this is quite possible, but you can bet they don't do it.

I have 2 fire extinguishers... one under the front passenger, in its appropriate IS200 holder... and one in the boot, also mounted in its appropriate IS200 strap mountings. Can't say if it affected insurance but it's definately added peace of mind. :)
