2" Antennas From "germany"

I wanna change my stock antenna to a really short one (2") cos i constantly have to put on a car cover ... and screwin and unscrewin the oem one is gettin on my nerves.

Has anyone tried these?

are they any good? I think i need to remove the thread from the base of the OEM and screw it into the base on these short ones. Is it do-able?

thanx for the input. did u have any problems with unscrewing the thread portion from the oem one and puttin it into the 2" one?

any significant impact on radio reception?

I got one of them too. Didn't notice any difference in radio reception at all, but then I don't listen to the radio that much.

Thought it was a bit short at first but it's grown on me since and I like the look of it now.

It's easy to swap over - it came with a thread of it's own so no need to remove the one from the OEM one.

Don't expect to receive any feedback from that company though! I'm still waiting even though I've emailed and asked them twice!

Since it's shorter, and we're talking VHF FM frequencies, any impact is likely to be negative. The radio front end in the IS isn't very sensitive in the first place compared to others, so I would say stick to the original!

I found that with the 2" antenna the radio will only pick up the 3-4 strongest stations.

I got one of these too - fitment is a doddle - plug'n'play - no need for thread transplant. BUT as Mr.M says reception is much much worse, but I dont listen to radio and like the look so kept it on.
