Be Aware Around Garage Car Ramps

Chatting to my mechanic who runs a local garage near me (pretty respectable one too) and he was telling me about his misfortune.

He was doing an MOT on a car when the car ramp collapsed on one side and broke 2 saftey mechanisms. The car on the ramp which was raised at the top of the ramp toppled off crashing into the onto the worktop area where staff use for filling out MOT's certs etc.

Someone was in the car at the time as someone sits in the car moving the steering wheel for the MOT tester etc. Fortunatly he was ok 3 ciggies later.

Insurance company who apparently make them have safety tests every 6 months for insurance purposes are now playing up and look like they might not wanna pay out. They are trying to wiggle out of it.

I remember getting under this very ramp quite a few times until they stopped customers in the workshop area.

A very close call and someone could easily have been killed!

So.. think twice when getting under those ramps.. you never know.

The number of times I've been under a ramp! That sucks, hope the owner of the car gets his money at least!!

i have been at auctions recently where 2 post car lifts etc have gone for as little as £180 all in.

its realy fortunate that nobody was hurt though!
