Good Hotels Around London?

As ive never been to London on an over night stay before, im after suggestions on places to stay, drink, dine etc. Im organising a trip for me and a few buddies in January 2006. Not after anything 5* when it comes to hotels etc, but anything reasonably priced and near to some good night life.

Please share your fountains of knowledge.........

Im just realising this now....... errr, cheap as possible on the accomadation as I can imagine its expessive to go out in London anyway. Maybe settle for a B&B, just don't want it to be a to much of a mission to find night life.

To be fair it doesn't matter where you stay, it all depends where you want to go out. London is such a diverse place with night life around every corner, you can have as good a time on clapham common as you can anywhere.

Thursday/friday nights are good in the square mile/shoreditch area, for anything else, i.e. sat/sun night you need to be around strand/leicester square.

The tube will get you anywhere though. I can reccommend staying somewhere like kensington/knightsbridge and then jumping on the central line to get into the centre.

Try Holiday Inn Kings Cross, lovely hotel, if you book online on their website you will get the best price.

Did Novatel near London bridge a couple of years ago, was reasonable compared to some.

If you want cheap fella then there are a ***** load of B&B's around the Victoria station area which are very cheap compared to the hotels - if you're on a bender then they're fine - you don't need anything else

Im struggling to find places with four seperate rooms with double beds though. Everyone apart from myself snores and we all plan on pulling!!

Try the Travelodge in Covent Garden.(it's just off Drury Lane. Close to all the action). I believe the most popular clubs are around Leicester Square which is a short walk from Covent Garden. Good luck and have a great time. :D
