Have You Driven?

I'm after an unbiased opinion on what sort of drive a skyline is R33 / R34 compared to the Lexus. Hence why i'm asking on here and not on SOC. Has anybody driven one or own one? Do they feel uncomfortable, too hard, too big to be using as an everyday car? If so could you please let me know what they are like.

Thanks

Adie

Duncan went from an SC'd IS to a Skyline and he was as happy as a pig in *****, thing is if you're after a Skyline forget about the comfort - you're buying raw speed and handling - if an R34 GTR was in my budget I'd get one in a heartbeat - forget the sleeper, not that many people know what a Skyline is so go for it :D

If we are talking GTR's only I would probably go for a good R32 over a 33. They are a lot lighter, about 200kg AFAIK as the R33 is a very heavy car, and said to handle better as well. Used to own an R33 GTS, only ever thought it was OK, just felt so heavy

A R33 GTR is probably a bit nicer as and every day car tho

Its just trying to find good ones now, even looking round the stand at jap show there were a lot of scuffy cars.

An R34 GTR would be my ultimate tho, just love that shape

i dont knwo why...maye its because everyone has one these days.

Plus the r33's are rear wheel steer too, depends what u want it for

if u want it just to go fast fair enough it will do that once tuned up. But u will look like every other guy around

Mmmmmmm     :P

I've actually been to that dealership in Keighley when my s/c was being fitted in Charlesworth, to look at Supras and Skylines.

The cars look great on the web site but when you see them in the flesh they are in a right state. All have some sort of bodywork damage to them plus the interiors are also badly soiled.

None are even cleaned and over half of them are not even roadworthy. You'll need to spend at least another 2k + just to get them looking half decent and to buy new tyres as most are bald or flat.

Was looking to swap to an R33 about 8 months ago. Looked around and found a couple of dealers who speacialised in Skylines - one in Bourne End and another near Chertsey.

All of the ones I took out drove nice enough. But that was the problem - they were merely OK. And I am not a fan of the R33 interior.

Add to the fact that I really wanted an R34 GTR but couldn't afford one and I walked away feeling a little disappointed.

I have been looking at other cars over the last few months. Looked at Supras which I would have in a heartbeat if I didn't have a couple of kids to try and squeeze in the back. Looked at Celicas which again are very nice but I would always feel that I had to settle for second best as I couldn't get the Supra.

The only car that I have taken out which ticks all the right boxes is an M5, so I am now saving for that.

Dont really like the R32 think it looks too dated.

As for supras, my mates have supras and very nice that they are i want something different but also fast.

I've seen some very nice R33 GTRs for sale and at an excellent price, as no one can sell them at the moment. Only problem being that none have had much done to them. I dont want to have to spend loads on the car straight away. So i'm going to hold out for a very short while untill i find a decent 500bhp one (already seen one but the wheels look crap)

Went from an R33 to an IS 200 you cant compare to two they are so different my R33 was bog standard quite quick but as the japs export is limited to about 275 bhp but very easy to chip and there is so much available for it however did get pulled a lot in it.

The lex is more soft but is slower, doesn’t handle as well (but what does) drinks a lot more juice, wheels corrode, thin paint bla bla bla only got rid of it as I had a few cars and someone made me a very good offer. :D
