Spark Plugs

Pardon my ignorance on this one, but what would be the symptoms if your spark plugs needed changing?

Hmmm, but am I to assume that it wouldn't be subtle? As in, you'd definitely know there was something up?

It would depend. If all 6 are crap then yes, you'd really notice. On the other hand if only 1 was breaking down a bit under load, the effects could be subtle.

They should be good for 60k and when mine were changed I couldn't tell any difference, but it depends on so many things like driving style, servicing, even the fuel. Only way to know really would be to change them.

Okay thanks. I was asking this in conjunction with my other thread about sluggish acceleration. I think I'm going to get a proper service done anyway, and I'll ask them to change the plugs. Car has only done 32,000 so I would have thought they'd be fine, but I might as well eradicate all doubt.

I wouldn't change the plugs, maybe pull then out and have a look but they should be fine. If it's a sparking issue then more likely to be a coil pack but really the problem should be seen on the diagnostic equipment if it is to do with ignition.

That's not recommended with iridium plugs, probably do more damage than good.

What I meant was, iridium plugs are standard fitment from Lexus - He (and you) should have them already.
