Not wanting to go on the thread started by star a on their powers to stop here is one for you.

Last week I was talking to a bloke at work who got stopped in a routine roadside check by the Police/VOSA in his Vee Dub GTI along with, as he put it, loads of just ordinary cars. OK we have seen this with HGV's but I have never seen it with cars.

Anyway part of the inspection included an emissions test on the spot. star a's thread prompted me to check up and I found THIS

"For a minor offence, the prohibition will generally be delayed to give owners a short period to have the vehicle repaired and brought back within legal limits. If your vehicle is greatly exceeding the limits you will not be allowed to carry on your journey until the defect has been put right."

Anyone out there who only puts a CAT on for the MOT could get a big fright

yeh i got pulled up for one of these, pulled me over in to a lay by, checked the car tints, aint, got none on the front, so not a problem, checked tyres, lights and exhaust emissions, reg plates, got to change the front one.. :P thats it.. off i go.

whilst i was there, a mercedes, vectra, mondeo and sme 4x4, were all taking the front tints off.. i just drove off afterwards..

Are your plates "legal" and did you get a "prohibition".

I can picture the scene with peeps pulling tints off
