Hid Look Bulbs

Hi buddy, there's some stuff in this old thread which may help:

http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/ind...=17319&hl=bulbs

To be honest you may be buying HID look bulbs in terms of colour but not in terms of the light thrown onto the road - personally I've had both HID look bulbs (some Ruenn Fwo X-Whites which were about the best you could get - Zee used to get them, maybe Prolex still can) and now I'm running hte full HID conversion kit from Prolex - the difference was night and day to be honest!!

May be worth thinking about stretching your budget slightly, as performance is different again with the genuine HIDs, although light output still isn't quite what you'd get from a factory fit system due to the defectors not being optimised for HIDs....

I tend to agree - I have put HID lookalike bubs on several cars now and they all fall way short of the true HID effect. Save your pennies and get the full conversion kit.

One way is PIAA and believe me they DO make the difference.

Its VERY costly though. I went Super white and white. Not into this Max power Blue **** look!!

I changed my dipped , sides(12led cluster) Full beam, fogs. Close to £400 in total. But ***** there is a difference mate.

Cant reccomend enough if HID aint the way you wish to go.

Someone had the PIAAs and compared them to the XWhites and the XWhites were better, and when I compared the XWhites to the genuine HIDs they were blown away!

The PIAA's do look better than stock for sure but light output is nowhere near what you're going to get with genuine HID's, Dave's latest HID kit was awesome in the amount of light output onto the road! Think that was at 6000k in terms of the light colour, I compared my Meccatune 6000k HID's to Zee's 4300k Lexus bulbs and Zee's blew mine away in terms of output again, but then again he had the IS300 reflector units which are optimised for HIDs..

You might as well get the HID kit instead of the PIAA's when they cost that much surely?

Good luck buddy, if you've got any inkling about wanting HIDs at some point it's better to buy them now than in the future. I went through all the XWhites for 12 months before getting my HIDs, could have saved a fortune if I knew now what I knew then
